The following rules apply to companions in areas where observation or clinical follow-up patients receive care:
- Whether a companion is needed is determined by the patient’s physician.
- The number of companions is limited to one person.
- The companion should not be with the patient during rounds and medical care.
- No procedure should be applied to the patient except under physician and nurse instructions.
- The companion may help with patient care only to the extent permitted.
- The patient must not be taken outside the center or have their bed changed without the request of the attending physician or nurse.
- Companions must not bring food or drinks from outside, and no food that is not under healthcare staff control should be given to the patient.
- Companions must not speak loudly or make noise, and phone volumes should be kept low.
- Patients and relatives must treat healthcare staff with respect and courtesy.
- Healthcare staff must be informed when there is a change of companion.
- Tobacco and alcohol use inside the center is prohibited by law and center rules.
- The companion must comply with general center rules. In case of violation, companion status will not be accepted.
- If there is any concern about the patient’s health, the companion must first inform the relevant healthcare staff.
- In units with special patient groups, companion practice is carried out with the physician’s approval.
